Shan Lin Xi High Mountain 'Gaoshan' Oolong is one of the most noteworthy producer of green oolongs right now is Taiwan, where tea leaves grow slowly on remote high mountaintops for concentrated sweetness and a flavor reminiscent of the very misty air that cloaks the tea bushes. We chose this 1700 meter mountain top farmer for their superior hand-rolled teas as the family tradition has carried on for generations.

Other high mountain Oolong teas are from Alisan, Lishan and Da Yu Ling. These teas, some of the island's famous gaoshan (high mountain) oolongs, are named for specific well-reputed mountains, and they're some of the most prized teas in the country.

This is not a Ten Famous Teas but to not include a High Mountain Oolong from Taiwan would make any selections look deficient.

  • Brewed at ~100 Degrees and steep for at least 3 minutes.

China Live features proprietary Private Label teas inspired by the Ten Famous Teas of China.  Chef George Chen has climbed high tea mountains to source the most sustainably grown and produced teas directly from Taiwan and China farmers.  These teas are far better quality and value as we source these fine teas directly without brokers.
